Brinkmann 810-5301-C Smoke-N-Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill Review

Brinkmann 810-5301-C Smoke-N-Grill Charcoal Smoker and GrillOk. Pound for pound this is the ultimate smoker for the price. I've been smoking (food) for the past 17 years and the Brinkmann has never failed to produce! The only problem I've had with it was getting a 24 pound Thanksgiving Turkey out without it falling apart and me burning myself. To tell you the truth I forgot how I managed to get the Turkey out but everyone raved over it's flavor! Filled the water pan with wine instead of water. Ribs, Tri-tip, Chicken and my favorite, Salmon have all come out perfect! The trick is keeping the coals hot throughout the duration of cooking time calculated. 4 racks of Ribs (6 hours), the rest half that time. I've had a total of 6 of these (sometimes using 2 at once) throughout my 17 years of smoking. Enjoy! BDM

Weber-Stephen 1424001 22.5" Performer Charcoal Grill Review

Weber-Stephen 1424001 22.5' Performer Charcoal GrillIf you're thinking about taking the leap from gas back to charcoal but are concerned with the time and effort to fire it up, you should consider the Performer. With onboard charcoal storage (consider gloves for removing the charcoal from the storage bin) combined with the gas lighting feature, there is very little additional time from lifting the lid to searing your steaks. Throw in a few pre soaked hickory chips and it all comes back - that wonderful smokey aroma that only a charcoal grill can provide. With this design, even disposal of the ash is a breeze, the container at the bottom simply twists off, the ash can be dumped and you're back in business. I received this grill for my 60th birthday and have been very pleased.

Old Smokey Charcoal Grill #14 (Small) Review

Old Smokey Charcoal Grill #14I do have to say I love this little grill! It is really "cute".

Now, I am not the sort that says, or uses the word "cute". The Old Smokey Charcoal Grill #14 is cute, though.

This grill is made to the same great standards as the bigger #18 and also, the solid Old Smokey Electric Smoker. Also, the results are just as consistent with the #14 as the firmly built and sound designed #18.

I have to confess; I already own an Old Smokey #18 and an Old Smokey Electric Smoker. And I am sold on these products. They really work, they look great and they are extremely well constructed. The manufacture does not skimp by using cheap materials. The materials used in these products are heavy duty and will last! Also, these products are made in the U.S.A. (Houston, Texas, no less).

The Smoker is manly with its rugged construction, straigth lines and no non- sense approach to getting the job done. The Old Smokey Electric Smoker is the best I have ever used with consistent and great results.

The #18 charcoal grill has shape, real appeal and sizzle but still a strong, sturdy product while providing great results everytime.

Now comes the #14. I thought this grill would be perfect for taking on camping trips (even long ones), going to the beach, park or tailgating. This grill gets hot fast and cooks evenly in a short amount of time, or slower, depending on what you want. There are dampers on the top and bottom that are very practical and easy to operate and will control the heat while preventing any flair ups.

Also, to make this grill even more compact and portable, I used wing nuts to attach the legs. Now, if needed I can tear everything down quickly and store the whole unit in a very compact package size.

Believe me, though, this grill delivers BIG flavor! It comfortably cooks four to five burgers at a time, or plenty of chicken for our family of five and is great for lots of siskabobs, or a rack of barbecued ribs. Also, it has so much more appeal than the run-of-the-mill kettle cooker!

My co- worker has a Weber and doesn't use it much. I told him, "Joe, you just haven't found the right grill yet. You need a grill you can actually have a relationship with. Something original. Something different. Something that is fun and will make you happy"!

Life can get monotonous, everyday the same, everything the same, so I say, "why have a boring grill"?! Face it, alot of times it will be just you and your grill, so get an Old Smokey and have some fun!

Product Description:
Outdoor grills. In fact, not even one single nut has been changed! There are loyal Old Smokey fans all over the world. The Old Smokey brand is a backyard staple in Texas and the surrounding states. It should be everywhere. Built with short legs (so you can sit down and enjoy the process!) this two piece unit can handle a lot of food. One of the key features is that the fire is lower (and thus further away from the meat) and more consistent cooking is obtained than the shallower grills that are popular. The metal is made out of aluminized steel which resists rust and corrosion. Easily assembled, this grill will last many, many years of constant use. Made in Texas where barbecue is a year round pastime!

Weber 7436 Replacement Hinged Cooking Grate Review

Weber 7436 Replacement Hinged Cooking GrateI bought this to replace the aging hinged grate on my One-Touch Gold. However, shortly after ordering, I discovered that Weber sells a stainless-steel replacement, which should never rust, so I returned this one. Weber 7519 Gas Grill Rotisserie Review

Weber 7519 Gas Grill RotisserieI have only used the rotisserie unit twice - spinning chickens both times and the results were fabulous.(To those who have never done a rotisserie chicken at home and don't know why it could possibly be worth the bother (when grocery stores, Costco, etc. all have them) my only advice is that you really just need to try one done right. Then, do a leg of lamb, a beef roast, and you'll understand.)This is a powerful, quiet motor and a nice stainless spit.I loaded my first chicken relatively unevenly, and the motor put up no fuss at turning it.One comment, make sure when installing the motor braket you put the nuts inside the firebox - otherwise the lid of the grill will not shut.Great grill, great accessory.

Meco 9300 Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill, Satin BlackI love this grill. There was a tiny bit of assembly needed, and it was very east to do.It is so convenient to use, and easy!Once you get used to it, there is no guess work as to the correct temperature to cook food at.It cooks evenly and the food is delicious cooked on it.We are in a condo where charcoal and propane grills are prohibited on the decks, so I was thrilled that it was okay to use an electric grill. It is fairly light weight, so it is easy to pick up and move if necessary.I would recommend this grill to anyone.

Brinkmann 852-7080-9 Gourmet Charcoal Smoker and Grill with Vinyl Cover, Green Review

Brinkmann 852-7080-9 Gourmet Charcoal Smoker and Grill with Vinyl Cover, GreenI am updating my original review and upgrading this product from 2 stars to FOUR STARS.The reason for the change is that I got the right charcoal pan from the manufacturer, and now it works much better.

Below is my original review of the smoker--to summarize, it came without two of the pans it was supposed to have, and it didn't cook very well.

After posting my orignal review, I decided to drill 6 or 8 air holes in the original hole-less charcoal pan, in hopes that the coals would burn better.I wasn't too thrilled with the result.

Now, the manufacturer has sent me the missing charcoal pan and ash pan, and I have used the smoker once more--I cooked a batch of beef that turned out very moist, tender, and tasty.Having the one hole in the middle of the charcoal pan, as the pan they sent me has, seems to be the trick--the coals burned pretty well, keeping the middle rack around 250-270 degrees F with no water pan (Using the water pan seems to keep the temperature down too low). The built-in thermometer reads in error about 50 degrees too cool (I checked it against the portable oven thermometer I normally keep in the electric oven).

With the right charcoal pan, I am happy with my Brinkmann smoker!I hope the company gets these cookers out the door with the correct charcoal pan, because when it is set up correctly, it is exactly what it ought to be-- a versatile, competent, straightforward hot smoker for slow cooking practically any piece of meat to perfection.

-------------------------Original review-------------------------------------------

I bought a large Brinkman charcoal/water smoker the day before the recent holiday weekend. The instructions refer to an 'ash pan' and a 'charcoal pan' and a 'water pan'.My smoker came with what amounts to two water pans, and no charcoal or pan or ash pan.

I think the Brinkman smoker's original design (not what they're now putting in the box) was a tried-and-true design for backyard barbequeing. In fact, 15 years ago I owned a Smokey Joecharcoal/water smoker that could have been the prototype for the Brinkman (large cylindrical smoker with charcoal and water pan and two racks). I wouldn't mind owning another Smokey Joe.Like the Smokey Joe, Brinkman's original design features a couple of porcelain-coated racks sitting above a porcelain-coated pan of water. Then the water pan sits above a porcelain-coated charcoal pan that has a hole in the bottom of it.The hole is important! It lets the rising heat of the charcoal draw fresh air into the fire. The hole also let ash fall out from the charcoal pan into the ash pan, which is waiting there to catch them, just below the charcoal pan.Smokey Joe and Brinkman are nearly identical in all respects of design, or I should say that the Brinkman owner manual describes something very similar to Smokey Joe.

Unfortunately, Brinkman did not give us a charcoal pan with a hole in it. They put a white sticker over the picture of the pan in the manual.Once they decided not to put a hole in the charcoal pan, I guess they decided we wouldn't have much use for an ash pan, either. There is no ash pan in my Brinkman Smoker box.

I faxed a request to Brinkman, asking for the missing pans, and scribbled a sympathetic note on the fax asking if they had supplier problems. They didn't respond after 4 business days (they promise a two-day response time). So, I googled 'Brinkman smoker' and read other owners' comments about the pans that are supposed to, but don't, come with the brinkman. One guy on a blog says he heard that Brinkman had liability issues with the pans because of Brinkman owners' decks catching on fire when owners wisely held their barbeques (on) wooden ground. The coals dropped out of the pan and ignited their decks!

But who knows, maybe the truth is something else, like maybe Brinkman infringed on somebody's patented design for a charcoal/water smoker. Gee, what a rip-off to still be selling the design and not even giving buyers the hardware or the means to make it work.

So anyway, I used the Brinkman Smoker for a meal during Labor Day weekend,It was pretty rough trying to get the coals to burn evenly.I started to drill a big hole or two in the pan, but then recalled the fate of my Smokey Joe--it rusted out.Drilling holes would leave the pan with no protective porcelain around the edge of the holes.Drilling would initiate the rot in the charcoal pan.So I used it as bought, with the Brinkman charcoal/water smoker burning charcoal in a pan with no fresh air inlets under the fire. The charcoal does burns (start it in a charcoal chimney) but does not burn well for long, because the ahses accumulate in the pan and tend to smother the charcoal.I found live coals in the ashes of the charcoal pan two days after I smoked the meal!I almost set my yard on fire by scattering the ash on my wild yard border.

As an owner of this ill-conceived smoker, you can look forward to pulling the hot hot charcoal pan out of the smoker every couple of hours and carefully dumping the coals and ash out, and then re-gathering the red hot coals into the pan with fresh charcoal added.Have some ice handy to sooth any burned skin you get performing this feat.

Yes, smoking food in the Brinkman, without the original pan design, is a big drag.So I called the Brinkman 1-800 number, and listened through their phone menu to where they ask you to send a fax instead of taking time with one of the busy customer service reps on the phone. As requested, I faxed my "Missing Parts" request for an ash pan and a charcoal pan. Brinkman says that will reply in email to Missing Parts faxes, within two business days.I am currently at 4 business days (and two faxes), with no sign that Brinkman intends to live up to their Customer Service promises or to make the charcoal/ash pan problem right.

I think I am probably going to shop around for a better value than the Brinkman.I will return it, used, to the people who sold it to me, since Brinkman apparently isn't even going to respond to my faxes, and I do feel entitled to more value for my money than I got with the Brinkman.

The bottom line is that the smoker heat is very hot for a while, and can be adjusted with the vents to cook in the desired heat range, but then it cools w-a-y down as the ashes and the lack of circulating fresh air eventually suffocate the charcoal. I did make smoked meat from the brinkman, but the results were very embarrassing to me as the cook. The old Smokey Joe did much much better and required only a fraction of the time and effort needed by the Brinkman for the cook to tend the fire, watch the meat, etc.

That's my $.02 worth, hope it helps someone make a good decision and get value if they buy a charcoal/water smoker. Good Luck~!

Big Steel Keg 05503 Charcoal Grill for Convection-Style Cooking Review

Big Steel Keg 05503 Charcoal Grill for Convection-Style CookingPurchased after considering the Big Green Egg and the Primo Oval XL ceramic grills.I did a lot of research and finally came to the conclusion that the Big Steel Keg had more bang for the buck than the Egg or the Primo.Similary equipped, the Egg or the Oval were $350 - $500 more than the Big Steel Keg and then you still need to be concerned about cracks on the ceramic grills from my kids when playing around it.

I can say that so far I've cooked pork chops, beer can chicken, spatchcock chicken, brisket and burgers on the grill so far - all were winners. It will cook low and slow at 250 degrees, or you can sear steaks at 750 degrees.I've had good luck holding the low temps with little trouble or variance.Using lump charcoal, the food tastes great and uses small amounts of fuel compared to traditional charcoal grills.

Pros:Smokes or grills awesome!
Even temperature control
Cast iron grill
cradle with wheels included

Cons:Wish the side tables would fold in the down position for storage. That said, they do remove very easily.
Needs better packaging - mine arrived with the entire bottom taped by UPS and I thought the grill may have been damaged. It was not.
The manufacturer says that a grill cover is included with this grill - mine did not come with one and I have tried to contact the company for a couple of days now and have not had any luck.

Brinkmann 810-5305-6 Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill, Stainless Steel Review

Brinkmann 810-5305-6 Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill, Stainless Steel11/23/09 - RUN AWAY!!!I wish I could change my rating. The smoker doesn't even attempt to be a little airtight.I used a half bag of charcoal smoking a small chicken.I bought a $60 smoker that works MUCH better and still works as a grill. Now I won't go broke buying charcoal.

The smoker works well as a smoker and as a grill but I am disappointed in the thickness of the "stainless steel."It's basically sheet metal, and thin at that.(The picture makes the item look more substanial) And the heat has altered the stainless steel look somewhat.A painted version would be better. So the functionality is good but I feel I paid too much at ~$142.The one other item I dislike about it is that you have to add coals through a small door while smoking.Others I have used allow one to lift off the top and drop them in.Basically I'm just trying to prove to myself that I will smoke and grill a lot before I drop $750 for a Green Egg.I'd stick to the cheaper non-stainless model if I was going to try it again.

aFire 0105U 100-Percent Natural Coconut Charcoal Review

aFire 0105U 100-Percent Natural Coconut CharcoalSECOND UPDATE: Amazon responded but essentially is going to do nothing. They didn't seem to care that they are selling a mislabeled product, nor did they offer to make things right in any way.Rather disappointing. So, if you buy this incredibly expensive charcoal, just be aware that you will be getting only about 16 pounds of charcoal, not the advertised 18 pounds.

UPDATE: It's been a week and aFire has not responded to me.I have notified Amazon that aFire selling seriously underweight product and suggest they remove the product from Amazon until aFire fixes their problem.

To answer the doubter that this product is "eco-friendly", yes indeed it is.Charcoal made from coconut shells is being made from the "fruit" of the tree, if you will.Nobody is cutting down trees to make this charcoal. The charcoal is being made from the coconuts which the tree can produce year after year. So, yes, it is certainly eco-friendly.I don't know if the other comments all came from the same poster or not, but you should look for a full in-depth review of this product in about a month at The Lump Charcoal Database (google it).It will compare this charcoal against other lump and coconut charcoals based on ash production, burn time, ease of lighting, ash content, etc.

That said, I've given this item 1 star because this company is selling underweight boxes. They are advertising 18 pound boxes. However, when you empty the contents and weight them, I got only 16.23 pounds in my box.I contacted another retailer who weighed 2 boxes PLUS the contents and he got 17.4 pounds EVEN WHEN YOU INCLUDE THE WEIGHT OF THE BOX.I've contacted aFire about this and will update this review as soon as I get a response from them.

Made from 100-percent coconut shells and copra (dried coconut meat), this 7-pound box of gourmet charcoal provides a unique yet superior alternative to traditional charcoal and other cooking fuels. In addition to being sustainable and environmentally friendly, the safe easy-to-use product also burns hotter, longer, and with less ash than any other charcoal. Because it's free from petroleum, sawdust, nitrates, and all other chemical additives, gourmet chefs and grilling enthusiasts can focus on the true flavor of meats, spices, and rubs. Even more, the coconut charcoal infuses meat with a light charcoal flavor and can be used with any type of wood charcoal for extended cooking time. Marsh Allen 717HH-1 Golding Charcoal Grill Review

Marsh Allen 717HH-1 Golding Charcoal GrillThis is not a heavy duty item. However, it does have a convenient design to fold up relatively flat to stick in a car trunk or back of an SUV which makes it great for tailgatilng at concerts or sporting events. I also like the height of the grill, you don't have to get down on your knees cooking on a hibachi on the ground, or bring some other table for your grill. I repeat, excellant design for tailgating, which is what I bought it for.

Old Smokey Charcoal Grill #18 (Medium) Review

Old Smokey Charcoal Grill #18I've had my smokey for two years and have grilled everything from burgers to briskets and whole chickens. My neighbors' Webers collect dust in their garages-most of them have gone to gas-but I've stayed loyal to lump charcoal and think this is hands down one of the best charcoal grills you can get for the money. The grilling surface is ample--you could even do a few racks of ribs if you roll them and sent them on their ends. Like the Weber, PK, and Holland grills, Old Smokey has a small cult following. And, for good reason. The design provides the versatility to use either direct or indirect heat, so Old Smokey functions as both a grill and smoker. The 18 inch diameter grill is perfect for a small family, but if I could do it over I'd just go for the 22 inch model so I could cook for a larger crowd. You should spring for the leg extensions, otherwise the grill won't stand waist high and you'll do a lot of bending over or squatting to tend to your 'cue. Reserve the shorter legs that come with it for camping outings. As for aesthetics, I think the Old Smokey has a lot of character. It's a great conversation piece, and, unless you live in Texas, you'll be one of the only folks on your block to have one! It's a fantastic little grill for the money. The only drawback I've found is that the simple design makes it hard to add charcoal. Unlike the PK, the grill is one piece, so you have to remove the meat and grill to add more charcoal.A slight hassle, perhaps, but for a product priced at around $50, you really can't complain. If you are one of those folks who thinks, "they sure don't make things like they used to" then the Old Smokey is for you. Check out the company's web site. This is an American product made by folks whose product integrity has stood the test of time.

Brinkmann 810-5301-6 Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill, Black Review

Brinkmann 810-5301-6 Smoke'N Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill, BlackAlthough, I have to use more charcoal than recommended, it still deserves 5 stars. It won't cook hot enough without a basin full of charcoal at the start.I do understand that smokers cook at lower temps, but it's just too slow without a good amount of charcoal. Cheapo charcoal doesn't work so well with this one, unless you are cooking burgers, steaks or hot dogs only. This is especially true if you are cooking a lot of meat and using both racks. I like having the nice size door because it's possible to turn over the meat you are slow smoking (with a very long tong) on the second rack, without having to remove the lid and the top cooking rack, but in doing so, you really need to be careful. If needed, you can use the door to add more charcoal/woodchips. The reason this grill is my all time favorite; the meat gets so tender, and there's no burn char. It browns and gets a delicious color, nice smokey flavor, but no burned areas. No charcoal residue gets on your meat.I don't use a water pan. This is a slow way to cook, but you don't have to constantly watch over your meat. I find when I get a good, even smoke going, only have to turn the meat about once per hour.Really, I can go cook my side dishes without running out to check on the meat every 10 minutes.Flare ups are rare. Healthy size slabs of ribs takes about 3 1/2 hours to cook. Best to cook burgers and hot dogs first, as soon as the charcoal is ready, without the lid on...after they are done, I put on the ribs and let them slow smoke.

I don't know where they get that 50 lbs of meat from. Each rack holds approx., 1 large St Louis style ribs with tip attached or 2 baby back slabsor 2(maybe 3 small) chickens or 5 nice size steaks. It will smoke a large turkey and each rack will easily hold 3 lbs of hot dogs or sausage or 10 burgers. The only way this smoker will hold 50 lbs of meat is with a rib rack accessory.

Charcoal Companion Platinum Gas Grill Smoker Box with Lid Review

Charcoal Companion Platinum Gas Grill Smoker Box with Lidnot a bad smoker for the price.I would have like something a bit wider.I have a Weber Genesis and I have to put it slightly slanted in order to balance it on top of the primary burner.Overall not bad for the price.Even when your grill is cool, don't pick this thing up with your hands until at least 3 hrs later, the metal retains heat for a long time and the wood embers even though not smoking, will be still burning hot. Try using a tool to flip open the lid first to check that no embers left, wood should be grey ash, if it is black, there may be some heat let in it.

Cobb Premier Portable Stainless Steel Grill & Smoker Review

Cobb Premier Portable Stainless Steel Grill & SmokerI've had mine for about a month now, and have done 3 chickens, 2 tri-tip roasts and a DOUBLE rack of Baby-backs... and am gearing up to try baking/smoking a pile of shortribs soon.

So far, I have only used the roasting rack to cook with...wet mesquite chips wrapped in heavy alum. foil in the firebasket smoke the meat nicely, just perfect.Surprised compliments from everyone who've tasted the results. Chicken, in 1 1/2 to 2 hours, comes out so tender you'll wonder if it's really done (it is). The Babybacks smoked up wonderful and were as tender as you'd want.

I'm a tri-tip guy, and all my friends step back in respect when I approach a grill with a Tri-tip in hand. I'm good at it.This Cobb Grill makes the best I've ever had.

Pro's:

*Convenient for apartments, small patios, any lifestyle or condition when you want the BBQ to come out and go back to stashed away. It is small, compact, all the accoutrements fit comfortably into the carrying case, even the extra accessories you might buy.Speaking of which, search the internet for the cheapest roasting rack...some will sell this wire rack for $39...it's about an $6 item, but if you can find one for $15, get one. You'll use it for roasting and allows you to NOT need to turn over the ribs, chicken, etc. during the cooking process. It's probably the most convenient of all the accessories.

*Easy setup, easy stash. Minimal fuel (10-12 briquettes).

*A moat! You can add water, soda, beer, etc., in the built-in moat and you get results like doing a Beer-can chicken. Most moist and great taste for everything. Results are great.

*Easy to smoke meats.Add your wet chips to the firebowl when you put on the meat.I've been using about 2 tablespoons of chips for a nice amount of smoke flavor.

*Both portable and movable. Not only is this little thing really portable, it can be moved anytime during the grilling by just picking it up with your bare hands. Its sides are cool. It's halfway to 'Kid-Friendly' and is a pretty safe grill to have around kids. The dome is hot, but the sides are not. This is especially handy if you want to shuffle ribs or flip some meat halfway thru cooking...I just pick it up and carry it to the kitchen where I can flip things without making a mess...then I take it outside again.Very handy!

*Set it and Ferget it. The nice thing is that you don't have to bother with the grill while its cooking.Go party.Relax.All you need is a timer to figure out when its all done. Because you are using a moat and liquid (if you do) it's hard to over-cook anything.

I haven't tried doing a plain steak yet, or hamburgers, without the lid...that's next week's project.

Cons:Expensive.I bought mine on sale for $85 and was lucky to get it at that. The accessories are expensive. The wok, the frying pan are well designed and might be worth the loot, but the roasting rack is just a wire grid who's legs happen to fit into the ring-holes of the included grill plate. At the mfg. cost of the wire rack, they should be throwing this thing in for free.Once you get your unit home, you can look for workable racks in thrift shops.

You can still find the earlier models, with the black plastic sides, available at a steep discount, around $50.These would be worth getting to save money. The new models are the ones with the stainless mesh sides.

*Cleaning. If you throw some sliced lemons in the moat-water, cleanup will be easier. The thing should to be cleaned after each use, which could be problematic for RV'rs.The quality non-stick grill surfaces are no problem, but the wire racks and the main steel bowl can need lotsa water or some soaking. You can rough clean it with paper towels and finish it at home, if you're off camping. Dawn Direct Foam works really well.

*Slow cooking, lower heat.Because it uses lower heat for a longer time, figure that it's going to be 2 hours for a chicken or a tri-tip, 2 1/2 hours for ribs unless you want to refill the firebox and go for 4 hours. That includes the 1/2 hour for the coals to get right.*Charcoal starter matches make things easier, so when you find them for sale, buy several boxes. The matches found on the Cobb site are overpriced. They run about $2.50 a box in grocery stores, and there are two kinds, the giant ones and the smaller ones.8 to the box and 20 to the box, respectively. 2 big ones do it, or 4 small ones will light your charcoal just fine. DON'T leave the dome on while the charcoal is flaming/lighting, you'll start to melt the top handle (my stupid). Leave the dome off to speed the charcoal lighting.

All in all, I think this is an ideal charcoal grill that almost guarantees you'll wow yourself, your family and friends with the incredible results. It's slightly different cooking than the normal charcoal BBQ grill, so you'll learn to make your cooking adjustments...and you'll love the results. I would (and do) recommend this little baby to anyone who'll listen. My friends all recommend my using this as often as they can talk me into it.

Brinkmann 852-7080-V Gourmet Charcoal Smoker and Grill with Vinyl Cover, Black Review

Brinkmann 852-7080-V Gourmet Charcoal Smoker and Grill with Vinyl Cover, BlackI have used mine a couple of times now and have to say that the smoky flavor and easy use are the main selling points on this product. The cleaning is not too bad, just a little bit of elbow grease to get some of the smoke and grime off the water pan and grates.

For my birthday, my brother was kind enough to order a smoker off my Amazon wishlist. I finally got a nice day and good piece of meat to try it out. I have to say I was totally impressed. I was impressed that I didn't burn off my eyebrows (even though it was close). I was impressed that the simplistic heat guage's ideal, really meant ideal. I was shocked by the quality of meat to come forth. Overall it rocked. So, picked up a pork tenderloin that I did a dry rub of

* Sea salt
* lemon pepper
* cayenne pepper
* garlic powder

on to the roughly 1.25 lbs of pork. I filled the water pan with a bunch of water, 4 cloves of garlic and a dash of port. I used some mesquite chips (thoroughly soaked) as my smoking agent and let it cook for 2 hours. The piece of meat came of with the most amazing flavor that I could imagine.

Necessary summer equipment.
